Motorists

It's for motorists.

Over the past 10 years, the number of motorcycle licensed drivers in North Dakota has increased 41%. That means motorists are sharing the road with more motorcycle riders than ever before.
On average in 2017, a motorcycle crash occurred every 1.4 days in North Dakota.
Alert driving can help minimize injuries and fatalities from crashes between motor vehicles and motorcycles.

Follow these safety tips to share the road:

  1. Look twice for motorcycles. Check mirrors and blind spots when entering an intersection, changing lanes, passing or turning.
  2. Stay back. Motorcycles can stop more quickly than a vehicle.
  3. Actively watch for motorcycles that may be hidden.
  4. Do not try to share the lane. Motorcycles are entitled to a full lane of traffic.
