REMINDER: Law Enforcement Still Watching for Seat Belt Violations during Click It or Ticket

For Immediate Release: Jul 17 2018

Bismarck, N.D.- The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) wants to remind motorists that law enforcement agencies across the state continue to heighten their enforcement efforts for seat belt violations during the Click It or Ticket enforcement campaign which runs through August 12.

“With the increased number of travelers during the summer, and with the State Fair coming up, we want to reiterate the importance of wearing your seat belt” says Ashlee Doan NDDOT Safety Public Information Specialist. “Buckling up is your best defense in a motor vehicle crash. It could save your life and the lives of those in your vehicle.”

Williston native Tess Colebank experienced first-hand the consequences of not wearing a seat belt and later, the benefits of wearing her seat belt. Today, Tess frequently encourages others to wear their seat belts by sharing her story on social media.
“Wear your seat belt kids,” one post reads. “Crazy to think the difference it makes when wearing a seat belt,” Colebank shares in another post. You can hear all about her story here.

This campaign is part of the Vision Zero strategy to eliminate motor vehicle crash fatalities and serious injuries on North Dakota roads.
